Abstract
In the world of software, failure is not a question of if, it is a question of when. As Python projects grow beyond their original design, the cracks begin to show: database slowdowns, memory leaks, request overloads, and cascading failures that catch teams off guard. Most teams respond reactively. This talk argues for a better way. Chaos engineering is the discipline of deliberately introducing controlled failure to expose vulnerabilities before they impact users or violate SLAs. This session translates the real-world practices of Netflix, Google, and Uber into practical steps Python teams can adopt without breaking production. Drawing on experience in software engineering and service delivery, this talk bridges the technical and operational sides of resilience: not just how to break things safely, but how to align those experiments with business priorities, customer expectations, and incident management practices. Session Outline: The Reality of Scaling Python Projects (5 min) — Why chaos is inevitable as Python apps outgrow their original design. Common bottlenecks including database slowdowns, memory leaks, and request overloads, and the role of service delivery teams in managing scaling efforts.
