Abstract
In this talk, I demonstrate how to build IoT firmware using Python on a LoRaWAN-enabled device. A Pycom LoRa device is used to send a simple message packets over a long-range, low-power network. The session focuses on the device side: writing firmware in Python, structuring payloads, and working within constraints such as limited power, memory, and bandwidth. A live demonstration will show how the device transmits data and how LoRaWAN enables communication over long distances. Along the way, I introduce key concepts in low-power IoT design, including efficient data transmission, device constraints, and practical considerations when building real-world systems. By the end of the talk, attendees will understand how to write Python-based firmware for IoT devices and how to get started with LoRaWAN development.
