If you are a woman who has ever been curious about data, how numbers tell stories, or how technology is used to solve real problems in the world, this workshop is for you.
We are excited to welcome you to the Women in Data Science (WiDS) Workshop at PyCon Africa 2026, taking place at Speke Resort Munyonyo in Kampala, Uganda.
This is a beginner friendly workshop. You do not need any background in data science or programming. You only need curiosity and willingness to learn.
During this workshop, you will be introduced to the world of data science in a simple and practical way. You will see how data is used in everyday life, from understanding trends in business to solving problems in health, sports, education, and more.
You will also meet other women who are starting their journey in technology and those who are already working in the field. It is a space to learn, connect, and grow together.
What You Will Experience
This is not a lecture where you only listen. It is a hands on and interactive workshop designed to help you understand by doing.
By the end of the day, you will have:
Understood what data science means in simple terms
Seen how data is collected and used to make decisions
Tried simple beginner friendly activities using real examples
