From Volunteer to Lead: A Python Accra Story

By EL-KARECE A ASIEDU
Software engineerAbstract:
This talk follows my journey from volunteering at Pycon in 2022 to becoming the leader of Python Accra, a well-known user group under Python Ghana. I'll discuss the evolution of our community, the important programmes we've launched, and how anyone can get engaged to make a difference in our community. This session is important because it highlights the revival of Python Accra and our attempts to cater to Pythonistas of all skill levels—beginners, intermediates, and specialists. Our events strive to keep our audience up to date on current trends such as AI and provide career advice through webinars. In addition, I'll discuss some of the obstacles we've encountered, such as finding speakers and venues, which can be difficult at times. While online events go smoothly, in-person gatherings significantly enhance networking and idea-sharing opportunities.
