Ubaida Abdulai is a Biomedical Engineering graduate with a focus on AI-enabled healthcare. She is currently a Data Scientist and the Programs Manager for Because She Can, an NGO working towards bridging the gender gap in tech. In her roles, she has led successful fundraising and donation drives, securing resources for technology upskilling of economically disadvantaged women. Ubaida also manages mentorship cohorts, fostering their professional growth.
She recently completed the GIZ Ghana Women in AI Fellowship run by Blossom Academy. Additionally, she received a certificate from the Intel Corporation for completing the AI for the Current Workforce Program. Ubaida has worked on data analysis, machine learning, and deep learning projects, including heart disease prediction and brain tumor detection and classification.
Recognized for her community service, Ubaida received the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award - Bronze Award in 2018. She was also honored with the Global Climate Change Ambassador Award in 2014 for her collaborative authorship of “Engaging the Next Generation - Best Practice on Involving Children and Youth for a Sustainable Future.”
