Accra basics
Accra is a friendly and safe city - perhaps one of the friendliest cities in the world, with a population of about 2.2 million.
It's bustling and vibrant and full of life, with many facilities (including a large number of hotels, hostels, restaurants, bars) and things to do and see for the visitor.
It's inexpensive and easy to get around in Accra, and easy to get to from many places around the world.

Airport and travel
All international travel will be through Kotoka International Airport (ACC), Accra’s main international airport. Major airlines provide daily services to many international destinations.
The airport is about 15-20 minutes’ drive from University of Ghana, the conference venue.
Airport pick-up will be available on request for participants arriving from the 2nd-4th August. Please email the conference organisers with your arrival details ahead of time to allow us to plan for pick-ups.
Some hotels also offer pick-up services and we encourage participants with such options to use the services.
Taxis are also available in addition to Uber services and Bolt. A ride from the airport to the University of Ghana will cost about GHC 25 ($5).
Visa information
Are you a citizen of an ECOWAS country, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Namibia, Singapore, South Africa, Tanzania, Trinidad and Tobago, Uganda, and Zimbabwe? Then you do not require a visa to visit Ghana.
Citizens of all other countries require a visa obtainable from any Ghanaian Embassy or Consulate close to them.
You will also be required to have a Yellow Fever vaccination. Remember to carry along the original vaccination certificate as this is required to enter Ghana.
Visa letters
Visitor visa applicants may need letters or other documents indicating the purpose of their visit, and so on. The PyCon organisers are happy to provide an invitation letter if you need one; we do suggest, however, that you check with the local embassy or consulate, as requirements differ from country to country.

Accommodation
The organisers of PyCon Africa aim to promote comfortable and flexible lodging experience for conference participants.
Accra provides a large number and wide range of hotels, which you can book on the usual online sites.
